Alamo, NV - Ben Abatti III had a great race at the Best in the Desert Silver State 300. He drove the first half of the race and then turned his TrophyLite over to his father Ben Abatti II to complete the race. They built an insurmountable lead on the rest of the field, taking the victory by over 11 minutes. If the story ended there, most would be happy but that is not the case. The team was penalized 15 minutes for a race incident. It’s safe to assume that Casey Folks does not like to hand out penalties to his racers but the problem with most rules, they don’t weigh intent and in order to be consistent they have to be held to the letter, which is not always fair. The Abatti’s drove a great race and took the news hard when they learned of the penalty at the awards ceremony.

TrophyLite teams put in countless hours of hard work and sacrifice to compete in the longest off-road race in the United States, Best in the Desert’s General Tire Vegas to Reno (V2R). Hesperia, CA - After a very competitive points chase that came down to the last race of the season, Logan Holladay took the Henderson 250 race win but it was PJ Guglielmo who was crowned the 2013 Points Champion. It would seem difficult to improve on the popular TrophyLite Race Series but a new venue and a whole new form of racing will exponentially add to the challenge in 2014. The TrophyLite series will go international in 2014 when they compete in the NORRA Mexican 1000. The TrophyLite series will run the entire Best in the Desert Series stateside and also venture the entire length of the Baja Peninsula in the Mexican 1000 rally. The Mexican 1000, a non-points race, will seriously challenge the TrophyLite racers but also provide an incredible life enriching experience.
